REA’s May Encore Auction: A Mix of Historic Baseball Cards and Memorabilia

Robert Edward Auctions is currently making waves in the sports collectibles world with its May Encore auction, a captivating event that showcases a diverse range of over 3,600 lots. From complete 1950s baseball card sets to rare vintage cards and unique memorabilia pieces, this auction is a haven for sports enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Starting on Thursday and spanning ten days, the auction is a treasure trove for fans of the early days of baseball and modern sports cards. Among the early standout lots is a T206 White Border Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card from 1909-1911 featuring a rare Uzit back, as well as a Ty Cobb rookie card from the 1907 Wolverine News Postcard series – both pieces sure to attract serious interest from bidders.

Vintage baseball card enthusiasts will also be delighted to find sets like the 1957 Topps Complete Set and the nearly complete 1958 Topps set up for grabs. High-grade cards from the 1950s Bowman and Topps sets, including rookie cards of baseball legends Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax, are also on offer. The auction even includes a complete set break of the iconic 1951 Bowman set, adding to the excitement for collectors.

REA President Brian Dwyer has expressed his excitement about the auction’s offerings, highlighting the exceptional quality of the lots following the success of their $15.4 million spring sale. Dwyer noted the strong interest from collectors and emphasized the premium nature of the items available in this auction, making it a prime opportunity for sports memorabilia enthusiasts to add rare pieces to their collections.

Those eager to participate in this exciting auction can do so until May 19 on the REA website, with bidding starting at $10 for each item.
