CCG Acquires JSA, Enhancing Collector Services

In a thrilling development for the world of collectibles, Certified Collectibles Group (CCG) has made waves by acquiring James Spence Authentication (JSA), a trusted name in autograph authentication. Renowned for its CGC grading services, CCG’s latest move marks a strategic union aimed at providing collectors and dealers with a comprehensive suite of authentication, grading, and encapsulation services.

Founded in 2005 by autograph enthusiast James Spence, Jr., JSA has built a sterling reputation in the industry, certifying millions of signatures and amassing a database with close to one million autograph images. Following this acquisition, James Spence and James Spence III will continue to spearhead JSA’s operations, with Mark Pepitone serving as a senior advisor, contributing his wealth of experience to the collaboration.

This acquisition is a direct response to the increasing demand from collectors for a one-stop solution that covers the authentication, grading, and encapsulation of autographed items. While CCG has previously offered authentication services through its Signature Series, the addition of JSA will fill the gap in providing a holistic authentication and grading service for autographs.

The merger is lauded for its potential to elevate the experience for collectors of sports memorabilia, autographs, and various other collectibles, seamlessly blending JSA’s esteemed authentication expertise with CCG’s grading and encapsulation services.

Effective April, collectors will enjoy the ease of a consolidated submission process for both JSA and CCG services, simplifying the authentication, grading, and encapsulation of signed collectibles. Further improvements and announcements are on the horizon, hinting at a promising future ahead for collectors and dealers alike.

Looking ahead, James Spence, Jr., and Mark Pepitone are excited about the possibilities that the merger with CCG brings to JSA, foreseeing innovative developments in the field of autograph authentication and collecting. The infusion of CCG’s extensive resources and expertise is set to drive progress and evolution in the industry.

In the near term, JSA and CCG will maintain separate operations as they focus on integrating their services. This strategic decision aims to provide a more comprehensive and efficient service offering to collectors and dealers, ushering in a new era in the authentication and grading of collectibles.
